This IICRC Fire and Smoke Restoration Training (FSRT) course concentrates on
technical procedure for successfully completing the restoration of a fire and smoke damaged environment. Students will learn how to combine technical procedures with a practical approach to managing the job site and how that relates to pricing the job.

The purpose of this course is to familiarize insurance professionals with: Analyzing a water claim; The life cycle of water claims; Steps necessary for keeping them from turning into mold claims; Documentation required to prove it; General information concerning mold claims; and What’s required to close a mold claim. We will discuss the two segments of mitigation – What can be done before the claim to lessen severity, and what can be done after the loss to stop secondary damage and lessen severity. The latest in tools and technology will be covered.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will understand the issues relating to fire and smoke losses as they pertain to coverage, technical issues of spread and acceleration, and procedural expectations of insurance professionals. A discussion will include a review of the anatomy of fire and smoke as well as investigative procedures and fraud overviews. There will also be a discussion of construction techniques as they pertain to fire losses. The course will conclude with coverage issues, policy language, and a summary that contains a brief overview paired with a Q & A session.
